ActiveX

A Microsoft technology that allows software developers to create Windows applications by connecting smaller components together. On the Internet, some Web sites contain ActiveX controls -- small programs that your Web browser can automatically download and run. ActiveX adds functionality to Web pages, such as fill-in the blank forms, database connectivity, and sophisticated multimedia control.
